WEEKEND ROUND UP

South Antrim 3rds 3-3 Mossley 4ths (G.Glass x2, N.Alister)

The 3rds win the Junior 4 title after they gained a point in a nail biting away game to Mossley 4ths. It looked like they were going to win at a canter after going 3-0 up from goals from George Glass and a 3rd from Nathan Alister. But Mossley clawed it back to 3-3 to make it a very nervy end to the game. Superb from all the boys and a well deserved trophy!

Friday Night Round Up:

South Antrim 2-2 NICS (L.Marshall, P.Maguire)

A great game and a good result for the men in red and black. A well balanced end to end first half ended goalless. The second was goal filled. South went two up by means of a short corner deflection from Lee Marshall that a defender cleared onto his own leg and then into the goal. The second a deft deflection from Paul Maguire from a crashed cross from Mark Gray. NICS' short corner prowess paid off as they scored a 'Chris Henry' and leveled through a Chris Barnes drag flick. The final 10mins were an open affair and either side could have pinched the points, a hard earned draw played out and both sides left happy.

South Antrim Ladies 1-1 Instonians Ladies (L.Boomer)

A great result for the Ladies too, they secured a draw against league leaders Instonians away from home, Last season the Stones did the double over the girls so this is clear progress. Lauren Boomer got the goal for the Southies.

Good luck to all the teams playing tomorrow!

WEEKEND PREVIEW:

South Antrim v North Down

The 1sts welcome the Comber men to FSL in the late 4pm hit off, as Hutchy is taking remedial maths in the morning. The loss of Simon Watt and Paddy Cochrane has disrupted the men's rhythm this season but they will look to get on track and pick up the points against North Down, also yet to get points on the board in the Premier League.

South Antrim 2nds v Annadale 2nds

The 2nds are joint top with Dale 2s and Bann 2s, the aim is the stay there come Saturday night. A big task as they are missing 2 players due to a wedding and 4 more due to Irish Schools involvement during the week. Definitely a tricky one for captain Ian Glass, he does have Neil Wilson to call on for goals, who is scoring for fun at present.

South Antrim 3rds v North Down 4ths

The 3rds, also top of their league, face North Down 4ths, who lost 8-1 last weekend to fellow league leaders Annadale 4ths. The 3rds were on fire last week, scoring 6. Key will be George Glass on short corner duties if they are to bring the points home.

South Antrim 4ths v NICS 3rds

On the back of last week's 5-0 stomping of Cookstown 5ths, the 4ths sit top of Junior 5, joint with this Stormont side. NICS 3rds hammered the 5ths unfortunately in the League Cup two weeks ago, lets hope the 4ths have better luck. Captain Gaz will looking to produce another 'lights out' performance.

South Antrim 5ths v Down 1sts

The 5ths are also top of Junior 5, thanks to a walkover win last week. Down 1sts failed to field a team last week, so lets hope the 5s at least get a game. The 4ths drew 4-4 with this team in an epic encounter at FSL in the cup, Down scored 4 from 4 short corners so keeper Andrew Wallace will need to be on top form, or more to the point, the post men will have to be on top form as the Down men hit to the corners.

South Antrim Ladies v Malone Ladies

The Ladies suffered a very scrapy 1-0 loss to Ballynahinch last week but will look to bounce back with a win over Malone. Malone currently sit bottom of the table, this is a good chance for a confidence boosting win. Vicky Donaldson is the team's top scorer, and Captain Elaine Aiken will be hoping she adds a few more on to her tally.

South Antrim Ladies 2nds v Owls Ladies 2nds

Portadown Ladies 3rds seem to be running away with this league, but second place is very much up for grabs and the Southies are very much in the fight. Its early days yet but this is a six pointer against a rival for that 2nd place spot. Laura McConnell scored a hat-trick last week, can she do it two weeks in a row?
